BICYCLE ROUTES

HOTEL PLATANISTA-ZIA – 16KM (ROUTE ASPHALT)

You will start your journey to the hotel entrance; you will pass by the area of ​​Agios Nektarios (3.5 km) and Platani (5,6km) to reach the Asclepieion (7km) by a paved road.
From there, always on a paved road, you will begin your ascent to an arid landscape where you can enjoy the beautiful view of the plain of Kos and the surrounding islands. Continue to the top where, gradually, you will enter the forest and Dikaios or road again become more regular.

At 12.5 km you will find the abandoned village of Agios Dimitrios (Haïhoutes) worth a visit. Then you pass through the village of Assomatos (15km) with the homonymous church and you finish your term Zia (16km).
Although the course is long and tiring, the view it offers you compensate for sure!
Have fun! This course is most suitable for experienced cyclists and hikers.

Hotel Platanista-Ambavri-Tsoukalaria-Shelter-Krionero-Monagri-Zia 18 km

This route is addressed to experienced mountain bicycle riders and mountain hikers who want to discover an unknown side of the island for the majority of the guests.

You start from the entrance of the hotel and at the 3.5th km you meet the intersection of the roads Iatrou Mylona and Mitropoliti Nathanail , where the monastery of St. Nektarios is situated . Then you follow the St. Nektarios road and after 1km you find a military camp (at the intersection of the roads St. Nektarios and Keramos) . At this point you turn to the left. You continue going until you find, at your left side ( at the 6.6th km) a dirt road which you follow.

After a while you pass a crossroads with a steep uphill dirt road and you continue straight on until you meet a small stream that flows downwards. Then the road sudden goes uphill until the crossing of the shelter at the 8,5th km.

At this point you turn right (west direction). From here the view of both sides of the mountain is fantastic. When we pass the area with the antennas we will arrive at the spring Krionero with many big trees around (at the 11,6th km). This is a good place for a small break and rest.

You continue cycling west direction until you meet a steep uphill which you follow (south direction) in order to get into the forest road of Monagri. For around 5,5 km. you are cycling in a wonderful natural landscape. At the end you find a cemetery. At the crossroads you turn to the left (west direction) on the dirt road. After 1km you meet an asphalt road which ends to the village of Zia.

There you can enjoy the fantastic mountain view of Kos!
